I love buying magazines. Some would say I’m a bit obsessed. Whenever someone I know is traveling internationally, I demand they bring me back a magazine from the country they visited. How else am I supposed to stay up on global design and fashion trends?!
Certain magazines I plan to keep forever – like my past issues of Domino. The rest I tend to keep in one big pile in my laundry room. Once the stack gets too high, it’s time to make a trip to the recycle bin. But before I pitch each magazine, I tear out pages that I’ve dog eared for future reference.
If you’re an inspiration junkie like me, then you probably tear out lots of pages from each magazine; way too many to pin to a bulletin board. So how do I keep these scrap pages organized? I glue them into a bound stetchbook. A big thanks to Kate from the blog Centsational girl for sharing this tip years ago!
I bought my white sketchbook from the craft store Michael’s for a few bucks. To make it more pretty, I decorated the cover with different types of tape. Once I paste a clipping into the book, I usually write a comment indicating why the image was interesting to me. When I feel uninspired or am brainstorming blog post topics, I flip through the book for ideas.
Here are a few pages from my book:
